The Mainland Eagles are pleased to have contributed $1,500 to each of the below players & their families to support them in representing New Zealand at the junior level internationally.
Men’s FIBA U15 Oceania Cup: Roma Tuimanuei, Marco Sula, Tawhiri Cate.
Women’s FIBA U15 Oceania Cup: Ava Jones, Maniah Taefu.
Men’s FIBA U19 World Cup: Tama Isaac.
Thank you to the families, coaches, and communities that have supported this talented group of up-and-coming athletes and provided them with the opportunity to travel abroad and compete at the highest levels.
Roma Tuimanuei, Marco Sula and Tawhiri Cate made their FIBA debuts in Canberra, Australia at the Men’s FIBA U15 Oceania Cup this past November. The team finished Silver on the podium, falling short to Australia in the Finals. Tawhiri impressed on debut, earning All-Tournament Second Team honours. At the Women’s FIBA U15 Oceania Cup also in Canberra, Ava Jones and Maniah Taefu made their international debuts, achieving second-place with the Junior Tall Ferns. Ava was named to the All-Tournament First Team, sporting averages of 10.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.
Tama Isaac and the U19 Junior Tall Blacks travelled to Lausanne, Switzerland for the Men’s FIBA U19 World Cup from June 28th to July 6th, 2025. The Junior Tall Blacks made history, finishing 4th place overall, which is New Zealand’s highest finish at the event ever. Tama was named to the All-Tournament Second Team after averaging 13.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists.
Our whānau are super grateful to Eagles Academy for their ongoing support of our son to progress achievement of his goals in the sport of basketball. Even beyond the contribution of funding for his overseas travels, the team at Eagles have been instrumental in supporting our Son to lay a platform for his academic and personal aspirations. Chuffed!

Thank you to all who attended our Mainland Eagles Fundraiser Quiz Night this June and helped support our athletes. On September 5th, 2025, The Mainland Pouākai will be hosting their Season Launch Golf Day to further raise funds towards future Mainland Eagles scholarships.
